Teaching Facilities

UQAM is a university with much to offer. With its location in the Latin Quarter, UQAM is an urban university par excellence, whose underground exits are strategically located in the metro system. Its twenty buildings, wi-fi connected libraries, open spaces filled with activities, animated cafeterias, newspapers, student cafés, performing arts spaces, and nearly 40,000 students make UQAM a "city within a city" in the midst of an enviable cultural setting.

The Department of Economics

The Department of Economics is located on the fifth and last floor of the School of Management building. On the same floor, you will find professors' offices, teaching assistants and graduate student offices, the Inter-university center on risk, public policies, and employment (CIRPÉE), seminar rooms, and the department's main office. This proximity favors the spirit of camaradery that cements student life at the Department.

Classrooms are an important aspect of the educational environment. For this reason, UQAM follows a policy to improve their comfort and performance. For example, new classrooms have lighting systems that balance the light directed at the board and the light over students' desks. Classroom colors are chosen in order to make the working environment agreeable.

To allow professors and lecturers to fully take advantage of multimedia capabilities, all lecture halls and the majority of classrooms at UQAM are outfitted with internet access and digital projection equipment.

Multimedia Labs

Located in DS-M900, the School of Management's multimedia lab is reserved for students taking classes in one of its departments. It is equipped with more than 350 computers in 12 rooms. The rooms are accessible 7 days a week, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. during the week and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the weekend, and are closed on Christmas and New Year's Day. One room, DS-M985 is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. For more information, please call (514) 987-7049.
